Iberostar Hotels & Resorts are located on the world’s best beaches, and offer fine gastronomy, exceptional facilities, beautiful décor, impeccable service, and respect for the surrounding environment.
Are you planning overseas travel or a domestic trip at home? Either way, the whole idea of taking a trip is to have a memorable time, to have fun and relax, and not to spend your whole vacation time worrying about money.
“One site I really like is i-escape.com,” suggests Naveen. “They have sweet deals for hotel accommodations at different price points. Another great one is Hotels.com. They have a program that holds 10% of your spend with them, and eventually they give you a free night. So every 10 nights or so, you can get a free night in a hotel.”

Weather. Summer is always going to be an incredibly busy time for common vacation destinations like cruises, beaches, and…well, anywhere where there are outdoor activities. Also the fact that school is out for the summer means families will be traveling a LOT during this time.
Defining where you want to go sets a goal to work toward. A lot of people talk vaguely about travel. They never say where they are going, just that they are going. Picking a destination is immensely important, as it gives you a definite goal. It’s a lot easier to mentally get behind “I am going to Paris” than “I’m going to Europe.” Not only will your trip become more concrete for you and easier to commit to, but it will make planning easier as well.
Travelzoo has won a lot of accolades for its quality, especially when it comes to international flights. Want to backpack through Europe, and you’re not picky about where you start? You can even search for deals by continent. Click here to learn more about Travelzoo.
“I always have a budget for travel,” Naveen says. “That includes saving a couple hundred dollars a month towards a travel fund. This is the money that I saved through the IWT system. I use for hotels and restaurants.”

Call the local tourism office. Most every country, state, and city will have a tourism office that’ll be more than happy to help you with your travel plans. Simply ask them, “When’s your peak season months?” (For a comprehensive directory of tourism offices, follow this link.)
One thing you will need is an international travel plug adaptor like this one below by OREI so you can plug in your charger, phone, and laptop. We don’t go anywhere without one of these and it makes for a great travel gift.
If you are worried about how to plan an overseas trip because of visas, you can learn more about tourist visas for all countries and passport holders at Project Visa – then double check with each relevant embassy’s website!
Don’t give banks any of your hard-earned money. Save every extra dollar you can by using a no-fee ATM card. I use Charles Schwab, but there are lots of other banks (don’t forget to check your local banks) that don’t charge ATM fees. Additionally, you can join a bank in the Global ATM Alliance.
This script addresses all of these points in the last paragraph. By showing that you’ve already gone the extra mile to make sure that your responsibilities will be taken care of in your absence, you allay your boss’s concerns that your work won’t get done.
I really appreciate how comprehensive this list is. All of the information about the best travel insurance companies is especially useful because when I travel outside of school I never know which insurance to get. In the past, I have also struggled with keeping track of everything that needs to get done to plan a trip. I’ve started using the to do list app Bzzy https://getbzzy.com/ because it is easy to create a master travel task list, prioritize, and access on a mobile device when traveling.
If you’re extremely flexible on time and place but not so much on cash, your best bet is to follow flight deals sites. There are countless of sites like Airfarewatchdog or The Flight Deal, but one of the web’s most raved-about services is Scott’s Cheap Flights. You can sign up for a free newsletter, or get a paid subscription for insider alerts to ridiculously cheap fares. (I got a roundtrip flight from New York to Japan and Singapore for under $500.)
Also don’t ignore an amazing flight deal because it’s departing from a different airport than the one closest to you. Remember how it’s important to be flexible on when you leave? Same goes for where you leave.
CheapFlights’ Inspiration: If you’re really undecided, this bare-bones inspiration tool offers limited questions to get you started. Enter your departure city; whether you want to travel in the next 30, 60, or 90 days; and if you’re interested in a trip geared toward beaches, cities, family, adventure, ski & snow, or any of the aforementioned.
If you don’t plan to leave your destination once you get there (for example, if you’re staying at an all-inclusive resort), you may not need a rental car. Consider a taxi or shuttle from the airport instead.
“Flexibility is the most important thing in finding a cheap flight,” travel blogger and entrepreneur Nomadic Matt says. “You need to be flexible in your date. If you have to go to Paris on a specific date, then you have to pay the fare. There’s no magic bullet to make the price go down.”
Imagine you’ve finally made that trip to Paris you’ve always dreamed of. You’re taking in the sights, the sounds, and the people. You LOVE it. So you decide to buy yourself a nice meal to celebrate your first night — and it’s amazing.

Decide why you want to travel. If you know why you want to leave home, choosing a destination will be easier. Determining whether your goal is to relax and unwind, have new adventures, see famous or ancient sights, or provide your children with lifelong memories will determine what kind of destination you should choose.[1]
Before you book a flight, hotel room, or vacation package, check the price on each of the individual vendor’s sites. Oftentimes, cutting out the middle man and booking separately is cheaper than buying a package on sites like Expedia or Orbitz. Furthermore, buying directly from the airline gives you more flexibility to manage your flights, and calling the hotel can result in unadvertised savings (especially during low season and if you are celebrating a special occasion). Remember, third party sites require full payment up front, so do your homework before plunking down the plastic.
Travelocity works hard to secure the best hotel rates in the most popular destinations. Browse hotels by destination to get started and check out our hotel reviews, written by customers just like you. Here are some of our Top 10 Deals.
These are the brands that I recommend. They all have their pros and cons, but they are comprehensive and easy to use, and they cater to a variety of needs and interests. And while most customers will be searching for flights, hotels and rental cars, remember that many of these services can book cruises and activities as well.
